Trade & Globalisation

Trade & Globalisation

The production and market base of the textiles has undergone a sweeping change in the post liberalisation period. With the abolition of the sectoral regulations, the production and demand pattern of textiles has experienced multifarious change so also the pattern of trade and export of textiles and clothing. Further, the initiation of DOHA Development Round under the arena of World Trade Organisation (WTO) has also influenced the international trade in textiles. This globalisation process has also created an everlasting effect on the prospects of Textiles & Clothing (T&C) sector.  The abolition of quota regime in 2005, further, accelerated the pace of global integration and acted as a stimulant for the global trading textiles.

The process of globalisation has not only created opportunities but also brought about many challenges. In order to mitigate these challenges and guide the sector for better performance both in domestic and international markets, the Market Research wing commenced many initiatives on international trade and globalisation pertaining to the T&C sector.
